Five painful years after the cult-driven success of Mirror’s Edge , a German Amazon listing has contributed yet another pinch of hope for the potential sequel. However, even though the listing contains some fairly authentic looking Xbox One box art, the posting for Mirror’s Edge 2 leaves much to be desired. But an official retail listing gives fans of the free-running protagonist, Faith, much more to go on than wishful thinking and crossed fingers.
EA has yet to comment on the listing, which showed up on Amazon, but their previous attitude towards Mirror’s Edge 2 lends to its credibility. Having never ruled the option out, EA has stated that the project had been put on hold due to the underwhelming sales figures of the original.
It appears that the volatility of the next generation of systems is exactly what EA needed to shake things up and allow Mirror’s Edge 2 to find the spotlight. With any luck, we’ll see an official announcement at this year’s E3, lest the sequel falls back into the obscure ranks of The Last Guardian once again.
