Nintendo NX May Be a Handheld Hybrid After All

Nintendo NX May Be a Handheld Hybrid After All

Okay, this is pretty huge news if it turns out to be true. According to Eurogamer , multiple sources have confirmed that Nintendo’s NX will be a “portable, handheld console with detachable controllers.” How exactly the controllers would attach and detach is still a mystery, but there is some pretty creative concept art floating around right now. The handheld unit will supposedly connect to a docking station that allows players to play their games on their HDTV at home. Sources claim the unit will be powered by one of Nvidia’s Tegra chips, and will use cartridges as previously rumored.

Keep in mind that until Nintendo officially reveals the NX, this all has to be treated like any other rumor. It does raise so many questions, though. With My Nintendo enticing gamers to buy their games digitally, how much storage can we expect on a handheld unit? After all, Breath of the Wild is confirmed for the NX, and I expect that game will turn out to be upward of 30 gigs in size. The article also states that due to the radical change in hardware and internal tech, the NX won’t be backward compatible. That would be a huge mistake, in my opinion. We’ll have to wait and see. It’s speculated that Nintendo will reveal the NX in September, so a pre-TGS Nintendo Direct sounds plausible. Stay tuned to CheatCC for all of the latest NX news – I have a feeling we’re in for a wild ride!
