PlayStation to Offer PS Plus Extensions due to Outage

PlayStation to Offer PS Plus Extensions due to Outage

Well it finally happened. For weeks there have been random threats from hacker groups claiming they were going to take down the PlayStation Network. Yesterday I guess they succeeded for a very, very short period of time. Many of you probably noticed yesterday that you couldn’t log into PSN to game or use any online services (I just wanted to watch some Parks and Recreation , which I loaded up on my Wii U instead). The outage was widespread but short-lived, and now everything is back up and running. Whenever things go wrong, though, you can count on droves of entitled babies to flood the internet with complaints and demands.

Sony has reached out to PlayStation players through its official PlayStation Twitter account, saying “Thanks for your patience today – stay tuned for details on PS Plus, PS Now, and video rental extensions.” That’s all I needed to hear. Word on the street is that a 24-hour extension will be added to all PlayStation Plus and other paid subscription services which, to compensate for what turned out to be about an 8 our outage, sounds pretty fair to me. Of course many are asking for discount codes or free games instead; apparently their nights were completely ruined. You know what I did after watching an episode of Parks and Rec? I opened a book. I read out of The Dhammapada , and it was really nice. Get a grip, folks.
