RUMOR: New Xbox Dashboard Update Coming Soon

None

According to an internal PayPal email that Kotaku somehow got their hands on, a new Xbox 360 dashboard update is on its way. The new dashboard is fully controllable with Kinect, both by voice command and by motion control. It is called the “Twist Control” dashboard, and if we can believe the PayPal e-mail, we’ll be seeing it sooner than we think. Apparently it should be here November 15.

In addition, there have been many rumors going around that say the Xbox can be used to replace a set top cable box. Recently, a new report by Bloomberg backs up these rumors, stating that Comcast and Verizon are both potential partners in the upcoming TV deal. Most likely we won’t see TV functionality in the Twist Control update, but Microsoft is certainly hyping the Xbox up as a media device nonetheless.

Microsoft has even been in talks with companies such as HBO, Crackle, Bravo, Syfy, and LOVEFiLM UK for individual streaming services. HBO Go said it would be bringing its services to consoles soon, so we can probably expect it to show up on the Xbox eventually.

We will bring you more updates on the Xbox’s streaming media capabilities and the new dashboard update as information becomes available.
