RUMOR: Sony’s Online Pass Model?

RUMOR: Sony’s Online Pass Model?

None

In the past, Sony has used the online pass model that companies like THQ and EA are so fond of with a couple of their games. For those of you who have been under a rock these past few years, the online pass model requires you to use a special code in order to play a game online. New games come with this code, but used games don’t. So purchasing a game used becomes a less viable option when you have to sink another fifteen dollars on your pass.

Previously, Sony used this strategy for some of its PSP games, such as ModNation Racers and SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 3. However, now a rumor has cropped up saying that they will do this for their PS3 games as well.

Members of German video game forum with a hard-to-pronounce name, Konsolentreff, noticed a “PSN Pass” that will supposedly come with a Resistance 3 bundle. The forum members warned that the pass activated “Network features only available in countries that have PlayStation Store.”

What do you think? Will we be plugging in online codes for Resistance 3 or are we just worrying for nothing?
