Sony Shutting Down Resistance Servers

Sony Shutting Down Resistance Servers

One of the biggest paranoid fears that gamers have is that companies will forcefully shut down the servers to their favorite games as soon as a new platform comes out. Well, you aren’t paranoid if everyone is actually out to get you. Sony has just announced that they will be shutting down the online servers for all Resistance PS3 games on March 27 th . That’s Resistance 1, 2, and 3 , all being wiped from online existence. Going with it is the plethora of online multiplayer themed DLC, such as extra maps, extra skins, extra weapons, and so forth. This DLC will stop being sold on the PSN as of February 27 th .

It feels like the end of an era doesn’t it? Unfortunately, this has not sat well with some Resistance fans. It took Microsoft literally years to shut down Halo 2 servers, and fans of the game actually organized a play-in to attempt to keep them online as long as possible. Resistance , however, only gets a couple of months after the PS4 comes out before it’s taken off Sony’s servers. Does this mean that Sony is abandoning the Resistance franchise? Will we see a Resistance title on the PS4? Will we be able to play Resistance 1-3 online if we use Sony’s Gaikai streaming service? We will have to wait and see.
