Well, it looks like we’re going to have to wait until 2016 to get the nitty-gritty details on PlayStation VR. Of course, we’re only weeks away from 2016 at this point, so that doesn’t sting quite as much as it would have months ago. We do know that Sony’s virtual reality hardware is set to release in the first half of 2016, so I can’t imagine that we’ll have to wait very long for some exciting announcements. Recently we received some hints that the price and release date might not be the most exciting details headed out way.
Gamespot was able to catch up with Sony president of Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida recently at PlayStation Experience, and he suggested that PlayStation VR will be bringing us more than just immersive games. “What we haven’t been showing is the ‘what else,’” he said. “These things we are not able to show as yet. We are working hard to prepare for the reveal of these features that we haven’t been able to talk about [for] PlayStation VR, as well as of course pricing and release date and what do you get when you buy the system.” Hopefully Sony won’t keep us waiting for long, nor should it, because Oculus has already been showcasing all of the neat entertainment and educational programs lined up for its impending hardware platforms.
