Sony Working on New Hardware

None

While the PS3 has finally seemed to hit its stride after recovering from a less than stellar launch, every game hardware company is always looking to, and planning for, their future. According to an interview between Sony Worldwide Studios head Shuhei Yoshida and Develop, Sony is no different. Yoshida states “we are undergoing many activities that we haven’t yet been talking about in public. Some future platform related activities.”

Perhaps the best news for Sony fans in this interview came from how the company is thinking about their future hardware. “When Ken Kutaragi moved on and Kaz Harai became the president of SCE, the first thing Kaz said was, ‘get World Wide Studios in on hardware development’,” Yoshida explained. Continuing on he said “So he wanted developers in meetings at the very beginning of concepting new hardware, and he demanded SCE people talk to us [developers].” This is certainly a good sign for Sony’s next console because what good is an incredibly powerful console if developers have a very difficult time taking advantage of it?
