Star Wars: The Old Republic Predicted to be the Most Expensive EA Published Game Ever

At the Janney Capital Markets’ 2010 Consumer Conference, EA Chief Financial Officer Eric Brown made it clear that Star Wars: The Old Republic is projected to be the most expensive game the gaming juggernaut has ever brought to market.

According to Eric Brown, as reported by Gamasutra, “It is the largest R&D project EA has ever undertaken in terms of total dollars that we expect to spend bringing the title to market.”

Moreover, EA is comfortable with spending such astronomic sums because they feel the subject matter as well as the fan base demands no expense be spared in its development and that the company will realize substantial returns on its investment.

EA expects Star Wars: The Old Republic to become the most popular massively multiplayer online game to date.  A tall order to be sure, but if anyone can unseat World of Warcraft it will be BioWare, LucasArts, and EA.
