The Sims 4: Realm of Magic is a 2019 game pack for The Sims 4, developed by Maxis and published by Electronic Arts. The pack puts magic at the forefront, adding a host of witchcraft and wizardry-focused features to the life-simulator title. Originally released on PC, The Sims 4: Realm of Magic eventually made its way to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, too.

The Sims 4: Realm of Magic Premise

The Sims 4: Realm of Magic adds a supernatural element to the base game, bringing witches, wizards, and Spellcasters into the game. The gameplay centers around becoming a Spellcaster, which you’ll learn by interacting with three Sages who specialize in different types of magic: Practical, Mischief, and Untamed. You progress through the ranks in each of these magic types, which earns your Sims new spells and abilities.

The game pack adds the town of Glimmerbrook, which has various portals to the Magic Realm. You’ll visit the Magic Realm, where you can take on several tasks, retrieve magical artifacts, and interact with a bunch of new Spellcaster townies. The life-simulator element of The Sims 4 remains intact here – in theory, you can start an entirely new life in the Magic Realm.

As with everything in The Sims 4, Realm of Magic asks for a semblance of balance from players. Casting spells will consume magical energy, which can lead to Spellcaster’s Overload if not managed correctly. This adds another element of micro-management to the gameplay and is almost as essential as the hunger and hygiene bars. 

Of course, it wouldn’t be an expansion for The Sims 4 without a ton of new customization options. Realm of Magic certainly doesn’t disappoint, with lots of new magical outfits to bring your Spellcasters to life. It doesn’t stop at the characters, either. The expansion brings lots of new build and buys options, with furniture such as potion-brewing stations available to add to your normal Sims 4 home.

The Sims 4: Realm of Magic Main Characters

As The Sims 4: Realm of Magic introduces an entirely new realm, it makes sense that there are a ton of new characters. It’s not like the other expansions for the game, where the existing townies could be used to introduce the new features.

As a result, we see a bunch of new families added for you to interact with. You get the same options as the base game, and you’re able to build relationships with each of them as you please. However, The Sims 4: Realm of Magic does introduce a few important NPCs that are essential to its gameplay. You’ll learn from these characters throughout the expansion, growing to become a Virtuoso in the different types of magic. Here are the main characters in The Sims 4: Realm of Magic.

• L. Faba: L. Faba is the Sage of Mischief Magic, and she will be your guide as you learn this school of magic. She retains a solid relationship with the other Sages, but is seen in a negative light by some of the other townies. L. Faba has the “Mean” trait in-game, which can make it difficult for others to build a relationship with her.
• Morgyn Ember: Morgyn Ember is the Sage of Untamed Magic. They appear on the cover art for the expansion, showing their significance throughout. Morgyn is depicted as outgoing and ambitious, which makes them a great Sim to get to know.
• Simeon Silversweater: Simeon Silversweater is the final Sage in The Sims 4: Realm of Magic, specializing in Practical Magic. He has both the “Gloomy” and “Slob” traits, meaning learning from him won’t always be the most pleasant experience.

The Sims 4: Realm of Magic Titles in the Series

The Sims has been a part of gaming culture for over two decades now, with Maxis’ life-simulator series becoming a go-to for casual gamers everywhere. With plenty of spinoffs and a horde of expansion packs for every single release, it’s hard to imagine what gaming would look like without The Sims.

The Sims 4: Realm of Magic Cheat Codes

In every single expansion pack for The Sims 4, Maxis adds a massive amount of console commands that serve essentially as cheat codes. For the developer, they’re more of a tool to quickly test features, but when placed in the hands of players, they become powerful cheat codes. Realm of Magic is no different.

There’s a massive number of console commands for The Sims 4: Realm of Magic which you can use to experience the expansion in new and interesting ways. To begin, open the in-game console by using Ctrl + Shift + C, and type “testingcheats true” which allows you to use the rest of the codes.

Spellcaster Morph Cheats

• traits.equip_trait trait_Occult_WitchOccult: Turns your Sim into a Spellcaster.
• traits.remove_trait trait_Occult_WitchOccult: Turns your Spellcaster Sim back into a normal Sim.

Spellcaster Bloodline Cheats

You can only use one of these Traits at a time, so make sure you’re switching between Sims when using these cheats!

• traits.equip_trait trait_Occult_WitchOccult_BloodlineWeak: All Spellcasters gain an additional talent point at each rank, a slight boost to XP gain, and reduces the chance of overloading by 10%.

• traits.equip_trait trait_Curses_PunchableFace: Equips the Curse of Unwarranted Hostility, which makes everyone be nasty to your Sim, and will force others to constantly start fights with them.
• traits.equip_trait trait_Curses_Repulsiveness: Equips the Curse of Repulsiveness, which makes socializing with other Sims much harder due to their disgust at your Sim’s appearance.
• traits.equip_trait trait_Curses_SweatyStench: Equips the Curse of Uncleansable Stench, which makes your Sim constantly sweat, no matter how much they shower.

Miscellaneous Commands

• traits.equip_trait trait_Knowledge_SlingerOfSpells: Makes your Sim generate much less charge when casting spells.
• traits.equip_trait trait_Nature_MasterMixer: Makes your Sim very rarely fail when using a potion on themself.
• traits.equip_trait trait_Cauldron_Potion_Immortality: Makes your Sim immune from dying of old age.
• sims.add_buff buff_WitchOccult_LockCharge: Makes your Sim’s Charge stop decaying for a limited time.

The Sims 4: Realm of Magic Cheat Code FAQs

Can I Use These Sims 4: Realm of Magic Cheats on Console?

Unfortunately not. The cheats available for The Sims 4: Realm of Magic are all technically console commands, which you’re unable to use in the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game.

This means that console gamers will have to play legitimately.

Do Normal Sims 4 Console Commands Work With Realm of Magic?

Yes! The Sims 4: Realm of Magic is simply an expansion on the base game, so anything that works in that works with this game pack. That goes for the other expansions, too! For example, if you’ve got The Sims 4: Cats and Dogs installed, you can still use console commands for that pack at the same time as using Realm of Magic commands.

It’s all one intertwined experience, each building up to one enormous final product.

What Is The Cheat For Turning a Sim Into A Spellcaster?

In case you missed it above, there is a very simple cheat for turning a basic Sim into a Spellcaster. You can do this by entering “traits.equip_trait trait_Occult_WitchOccult.”

Alternatively, you can also use “spells.unlock_spell spells_Practical_5_ConvertToWitch,” which gives your Sim the ability to turn others into Spellcasters via a spell. That way, you can turn anyone in the world into a Spellcaster!
