THQ Cancels Guillermo del Toro’s inSANE

THQ has confirmed the cancelation of Guillermo del Toro’s inSANE.

Speaking to investors following the firm’s Q1 earnings call, THQ’s new president Jason Rubin said the planned inSANE trilogy has been cancelled.

“We have decided not to pursue further pre-production on inSANE, and have returned all of our IP rights to Guillermo del Toro. By cancelling these explorations outside of our core business, we feel we can improve focus on our core game portfolio, which remains unchanged.”

As for how far along the first game’s production was, no assets were ever released, with del Toro stating during the closing stages of 2011 that the first installment would most likely launch in two or three years.
