Xbox 360 E Changes Little, None Of It For The Better

Xbox 360 E Changes Little, None Of It For The Better

There’s a certain kinetic excitement that accompanies the reveal of redesigned hardware. Even when you’re already in possession of an earlier version of the console, it can hit you with that slight pang of jealousy. So it was when the new Xbox 360 redesign was unveiled at Microsoft’s pre-E3 press conference, especially since I still possess one of the old “Pro” systems from 2008 or so.

However, while I’m sure the new design is cheaper to manufacture than the previous iteration, it seems a tad disingenuous that it costs the same as a comparably featured Xbox 360 S, lacks the optical port that is so useful for certain audio setups and video capture devices, and is, in fact, almost no smaller than the first redesign of the console.

Microsoft, what is the point?
