Xbox One Update Dropping in March, White Console Rumoured to be on its Way

Xbox One Update Dropping in March, White Console Rumoured to be on its Way

Earlier this month , Microsoft’s chief product officer and the general manager of Xbox Live Marc Whitten spoke of upcoming changes to the Xbox One’s social interface and “Live experiences”. While Whitton gave an exact date of when this update will drop, it has been verified by The Verge that the update will drop in March.

I say “has been verified” because the source was initially revealed on a NeoGAF forum post by a supposed insider, which in and of itself is a conglomeration of quotes from different topics and subjects which I found to be a bit tedious to navigate. Sources familiar to the matter have revealed The Verge that the update will fix various system bugs and focus on Xbox Live issues. In the original interview, Whitten expressed his acknowledgement of these various issues and problems regarding the Xbox One’s interface and the Xbox Live service, and that he’s taking the task of fixing those issues quite seriously.

“The feedback we’ve gotten is pretty valid; some of the social stuff is hidden or harder to use than it was on the Xbox 360. So you’re gonna see us come out with an update where, well, we’re going to fix those things,” He said. “As a person who’s been pretty involved in building Xbox Live for the last decade, I take it pretty seriously when people say it’s harder to get into a party, and the defaults aren’t right, and I don’t like the model. So what I’m trying to do with the team is kind of theme some stuff up. Let’s take an update and really go through a big list of what we’re hearing from customers, what we know is broken with the architecture, areas that we want to improve or complete. I think that’s a theme you’ll really see us push on — that Live experience.”

What’s more, It has also been rumored on NeoGAF that a white version of the Xbox One will drop for regular consumers, instead of being a Microsoft employee exclusive. Actual details on this claim didn’t seem to be apparent. According to The Verge, however, the white Xbox One will launch alongside Sunset Overdrive , which will apparently be in October. Furthermore, a 1Tb version of the Xbox One is rumored to follow up the white Xbox One a month later in November. There’re even rumors that there might possibly be an Xbox one without an optical disk drive coming up. However, The Verge claims that it has verified that Microsoft are indeed performing tests on the Xbox One without a disk drive, and that the company is also planning to release a white version of the Xbox One this year.

I’m sure a lot of Xbox One users may be happy to hear that an update will be coming along shortly. Personally, I would really like to see an white Xbox One on the market, because white consoles just look dope. Alternatively, if you’re not willing to spend hundreds of dollars/pounds on getting a new Xbox One, you can instead just buy stickers for it.
