Jason West and Vince Zampella, President and CEO, respectively, of Infinity Ward (developer of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 1 and 2) have been fired from their positions as heads of the highly respected studio. This morning, an SEC filing from Activision confirmed that key executives would be let go and that they are currently investigating insubordination and that litigation is expected. “The Company [Activision] is concluding an internal human resources inquiry into breaches of contract and insubordination by two senior employees at Infinity Ward. This matter is expected to involve the departure of key personnel and litigation. At present, the Company does not expect this matter to have a material impact on the Company.” More information on this stunning development should be forthcoming over the next day or two.
