Activision Files Counter-Suit Against Former Infinity Ward Heads Jason West and Vince Zampella

None

Predictably, Activision has filed a counter-suit against Vince Zampella and Jason West for their actions in the days leading up to and continuing after their firing from Activision. The LA Times had a feature on the suit after it was filed by Activision early Friday morning.

According to Activision’s counter-suit verbiage, as brought to us by the LA Times, Jason West and Vince Zampella “morphed from valued, responsible executives into insubordinate and self-serving schemers who attempted to hijack Activision’s assets for their own personal gain.”

The suit even goes so far as to state that the developers tried to “steal the [Infinity Ward] studio, which is one of Activision’s most valuable assets — at the expense of Activision and its shareholders and for their own personal financial gain,” by citing a recent “secret trip by private jet to Northern California, arranged by their Hollywood agent, to meet with the most senior executives of Activision’s closest competitor.”

Finally, the duo are accused by Activision of delaying the pre-development of Modern Warfare 3 and preventing Activision “from awarding additional compensation to [Infinity Ward] team members as a reward for the success of Infinity Ward-developed games, in order to make these employees easier to poach when West and Zampella executed their plans to leave the company and set up their own company.”

Pretty harsh accusations – we’ll have to wait and see who comes out on top.
