One of the more unique attributes of the Battlefield 3 beta test is that it doesn’t use any anti-cheating software. Punkbuster is nowhere to be seen. It’s not a compatibility issue, but rather a social experiment. DICE wants a complete picture, the full spectrum of player behavior in all of its most unsavory and exploitative forms. That said, DICE also seems to be looking for an early head-start on those who would “enhance” their playing ability through unfair measures. Ian “crash7801” Tornay, in a thread opened on the Battlefield forums today, asks that players who suspect that another player has cheated in a match report that player’s username and link to their Battlelog, for review by DICE. The community manager promised, with regard to bans of cheating accounts, that “The hammer will fall swiftly and accurately.”
