Console Diablo Confirmed

Console Diablo Confirmed

None

Blizzard’s been taking to Twitter a lot lately. Most recently, it was to deny rumors of a February 1 release date for Diablo III, shattering the hearts of hopeful gamers everywhere. Perhaps, with a recent tweet from community manager Micah Whipple, known on Twitter as Bashiok, those hearts may be mended: Diablo is getting a console release.

According to the specific tweet in question, Josh Mosqueira is lead designer for “the Diablo console project.” Note that the title doesn’t specify that this is a console version of Diablo III, but given Blizzard’s devotion to singular entries in given series at any time, it seems unlikely that we could be looking at anything else, especially since reports from the Diablo III beta have it that certain UI features seem to be geared toward more limited control options, such as controllers.

There has been no word on whether this console entry in the series will be out at the same time as its PC brother, or even on when the PC version can be expected, but it’s exciting to see Blizzard blatantly confirm such a long-running speculation.
