Gamescom is going on right now in Cologne, Germany, and even though the convention isn’t over yet, awards are being given out left and right. The official Gamescom awards have already been decided, and if you compare these to the awards from E3, you’ll see just how different American console-based tastes are from European PC-based tastes. It’s a cultural experiment, everyone! The most notable award is obviously Best of Gamescom 2011, and that award went to Battlefield 3. This is pretty significant considering Gamescom historically awards excellence in PC gaming, while Battlefield 3 is a multiplatform release.In fact, it’s somewhat surprising that the Best PC Game award winner, Diablo III, didn’t take the Best of Gamescom 2011 award instead.
