Hackers Attack Charity Site Aimed at Giving Games to Troops

Operation Supply Drop, an organization that was formed to provide video games to U.S. troops serving abroad, was recently the target of a DDOS attack by an anonymous group of hackers (no not Anonymous). “Yes, 27-minutes after the official 0800 CST start time of the 3rd Annual 8-Bit Salute, some nefarious creatures took our site down with a DDoS attack,” the organization said in a statement. “Odds are this will happen again over the next 24 hours.” That being said, even though the organization’s site is down, you can still donate through PayPal by sending money to [email protected] .

It’s unclear what motivated the attack, but there is little excuse. Whether or not you agree with how the U.S. Government is operating, our troops are out there risking their lives. These are people who could literally get shot and die tomorrow, fighting for people they would never see and an ideal that they might never even realize. Don’t they deserve a copy of Gears of War , or any other game?
