Items In Skyward Sword To Be Less Disposable

None

So far, the Legend of Zelda series has been void of any sort of customization or upgrade system. Instead, players generally replace equipment and weapons whenever they come across better items. With the upcoming Skyward Sword, however, this looks to be changing. Revealed at Comic-Con, Nintendo spokesman Bill Trinen revealed the addition of upgrades in the next Zelda game.

Trinen said in an interview, “What I can say is what we’ve done with the game this time that I think is a little different is we’ve built an entire upgrade system into the game.” He went on to mention there will be many different versions of equipment in the game, like Link’s shield, where you’ll begin with the basic version that can then be upgraded with the rupees and treasures you find to make it more powerful. He continued by saying, “You can do that with the shield, you can do that with the beetle, and some of the other items that you have. You’ll be combining your collection of rupees and your collection of these resources and improve the items you have.”

Trinen only mentioned Link’s shield and flying beetle gadget as being upgradeable, but it’s likely that the items you can improve will expand to most, if not all of Link’s arsenal.
