Brian Fargo’s Kickstarter success story has hit a development milestone. According to a post on the game’s Facebook page, Wasteland 2’s first playable build was reviewed yesterday.
The tone of the update paints this as cause for optimism, stating that it’s “coming together” and “feeling like a game.” Further, they mention an upcoming gameplay video, which has at least this classic RPG fan chomping at the bit.
Wasteland 2 is Brian Fargo’s way of coming full circle. Best known for the Fallout series, which helped define PC role-playing games in the late 90s, Fargo was also the brain behind Wasteland, which often considered the spiritual predecessor to those famous, post-apocalyptic RPGs. Now, Wasteland 2 is serving as not only a sequel to Wasteland, but a spiritual successor to the isometric Fallout RPGs of yore.
