If you pledged over $55 to inXile’s Wasteland 2 Kickstarter, you should check your Ranger Center account. All users who donated enough for early beta access should be able to get a steam key for Wasteland 2 beta right now.
Currently, the game is only available on Windows platforms though a Linux and Mac version of the beta are coming in the near future. They require more testing before being made available to the general public.
inXile has made it clear that this beta version of the game isn’t anywhere near complete. The UI is still in development, there is no fog of war, many skills haven’t yet been implemented and the AI is nowhere near finalized. They ask all beta testers to be vigilant and report any issues or problems they encounter to the inXile team. They also encourage players to document, review, and stream the beta in whatever way they like. “Now, however, is the stage of development where the magic happens,” says project lead Brian Fargo. “With most of the mechanical issues behind us, now we can really start digging deep into the game and finding ways of taking it from good to great. No amount of prepping and planning can replace old-fashioned hands-on playing, testing and iteration time, which is why we are so grateful to have you, our backers, help us hone this process like never before.”
