In addition to a number of exciting Sega announcements this week, Sega has signed a deal with Empire Interactive to publish Taito Legends for the PS2, Xbox, and PC. The compilation will include twenty-nine arcade classics that showcase nearly thirty years of gaming history. In addition to the games, bonus material like a comprehensive history of Taito and interviews with the designers of Space Invaders, Space Invaders Part 2, Bubble Bobble, Rainbow Islands, and Volfied will be included. The game will be available on October 25, 2005.

“We are proud to partner with Empire Interactive to deliver the most extensive collection of arcade classics ever to be offered on a single disc,” Scott A. Steinberg, Vice President of Entertainment Marketing for Sega, commented. “Taito’s library of games are as fun to play today as they were when they dominated arcades in the ‘80s and ‘90s.”

“The retro game compilation market in the US is strong and Taito Legends is the most complete and historically significant arcade compilation ever assembled,” Ian Higgins, CEO of Empire Interactive, enthused. “We are delighted to be working with Sega with whom we have enjoyed a successful relationship over many years.”
