OnLive Talks Vouchers, Customer Satisfaction

OnLive Talks Vouchers, Customer Satisfaction

None

At the end of last month, Deus Ex: Human Revolution’s release was soured a bit in the eyes of several fans. GameStop employees were directed to open new copies of the boxed PC version of the shooter/RPG and remove bonus coupons that gifted buyers with a free, streaming copy of the same game from OnLive. GameStop came under heavy fire for its actions, from the press and community as well as publisher Square Enix, but OnLive itself never commented on the events.

Until now. GamerZines spoke to OnLive’s vice president of games and media, John Spinale. His response is measured, not vilifying GameStop and, in fact, removing OnLive, as a company, from the situation entirely. Spinale told GamerZines that “It’s their choice. It’s between them and Square Enix as to how they want to package something up and distribute it.”

Spinale did note that GameStop “didn’t put the customer’s interest first,” which he understands, “left a lot of people unhappy as a result of it, which is never good for the industry.”
