There are 21 heroes in Overwatch right now. That’s going to change. We’ve always known Blizzard had more people waiting in the wings, and it’s been doing all it can to tease the next hero. Introducing Sombra! Except, not really, because all we’re getting are hints and teases about who she is and what she can do. Fitting, since her name means “Shadow!”
It’s been going on for a while within Overwatch. On Route 66, the newspaper says, “Quien es Sombra?” Which means, “Who is Sombra?” Reaper also asks where she is. Blizzard fanned the flames even more with a picture of Sombra’s biotic rifle on Twitter . In it, Torbjorn discusses a prototype biotic rifle, which Sombra will almost assuredly use, which is supposed to be used for healing. Both he and Mercy hint that it could have more lethal applications.
With all this teasing, Blizzard is bound to show us Sombra soon! Anyone else hoping she gets an awesome animated video like some other Overwatch heroes? That would be a way to get people even more hyped up!
