Riot Re-Introducing Limited Edition Alternate Skins for League of Legends

Riot Re-Introducing Limited Edition Alternate Skins for League of Legends

The League of Legends community—the community fueled by hate— is set to benefit from Riot’s revisiting of a policy regarding exclusive skins. In a recent news post, they stated that alternate character costumes which were advertised as available for a very limited amount of time would be making a return.

Unfortunately, the reversal seems unfair to those who purchased the costumes during the limited runs. Riot claims that the player base has grown so substantially that the limited edition items have become, essentially, too limited.

Riot state that, “The most common [costume], Bewitching Nidalee, appears once every 971 games in NA. The least common, Ice Toboggan Corki, appears once every 116,586 games in NA”

It’s not bad reasoning, even if the ultimate goal is to make more money under the clever guise of customer satisfaction. That’s business, though.

But, fearing the alienation of those who did purchase the LE skins when they were, well, limited, Riot is offering to refund the RP paid for the purchase, as well as giving the early adopters vintage treatment on the game’s loading screen.

The content schedule is as follows:

-Harrowing 2010 & 2011 skins during October 2013
-Snowdown Showdown 2009 & 2010 skins during December 2013
-Winter Games 2010 skins during February 2014
-World Cup 2010 skins during June 2014
