The Battlefield titles have always been a hotbed of activity for the PC modding scene. Battlefield 2, in particular, has hundreds of community mods available for download. That’s why it’s such a surprise that the hotly anticipated Battlefield 3 will not include a set of community mod tools. In a video interview released on Monday, EA Senior Vice President Patrick Soderlund declared that the Frostbite engine’s complexity would make it too challenging for community members to make a mod.
Feedback on the video, posted on YouTube, is vehemently opposed to this decision. Some decriers see Soderlund’s statement as an insult, while others see it simply as a measure to force gamers to purchase DLC if they wish to expand their experience. |
