Sony Boss: SOCOM “Is Not Done”

None

Sony’s Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida has said that the long-running SOCOM franchise is not dead, despite the closing of its original developer Zipper Interactive last March.

Speaking to US OPM, Yoshida said that SOCOM is “not done,” and that, in general, Sony “never retires any franchise.” Yoshida pointed out the Sly Cooper series and its upcoming Thieves in Time sequel as an example and stated that “it’s sometimes good to have a fresh look at the franchises we have.”

As for the aforementioned closing of Zipper earlier this year, Yoshida noted that it was “a very difficult decision and thing to deal with.”
