Sony Developing Cloud Gaming Technology of Their Own?

Sony Developing Cloud Gaming Technology of Their Own?

None

According to a Sony Entertainment Japan trademark registry, the gaming giant may be thinking of getting into cloud gaming.

The trademark for PS Cloud has industry experts aflutter with speculation that new Sony products and/or services centered on cloud-based gaming may be in the works.

At GDC 2009, OnLive was introduced to the world-at-large, which touts remote gaming and computing.  If Sony is in fact developing such technology, the service could easily be added to the PS3 and may make the creation of the PS4 unnecessary.

Of course, what’s most likely going on is that Sony is simply hedging their bets, reserving a trademark for a time when or if cloud-gaming takes off.

No confirmation or denial has come from Sony.
