Sony’s new Silver Wired Headset is out now. The headset is compatible with the PS3, PS Vita and PS4 and features new 7.1 virtual surround sound. This allows you to feel as if the sound is coming at you from all directions, even though there are technically only two speakers situated on either side of your ears. The headset also features in line volume and mic controls, and it works with any 3.5mm jack.
Another interesting bit of functionality for the new Sony headset, is that it can feature specific audio modes for new games. The first game to support this is Far Cry 4 , which will have it’s own custom audio mode for the headset. It’s not clear what this custom audio mode will do, but we will see. In the future, several other games are also set to have custom audio modes including Watch_Dogs, Destiny, and The Last of Us .
