Grand Theft Auto is a franchise that’s practically bigger than the gaming industry. It won’t be at E3 and it won’t appear on next-generation consoles, but its publisher, Take-Two Interactive, doesn’t think that’ll affect the sales for Grand Theft Auto V.
“Grand Theft Auto V is the most highly anticipated release of our biggest franchise,” Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick told website MCV. He insists that despite the game launching just a short time before the debut of new hardware, expectations shouldn’t be tempered.
“We expect there to be enormous consumer demand for Grand Theft Auto V regardless of when the next-generation consoles are released.”
Grand Theft Auto V will undoubtedly overshadow any launch title we currently know about for both Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Add the fact that Call of Duty: Ghosts will be readily available on current hardware, means that there isn’t necessarily a need to pick up new hardware on day one.
