TF2 Gets Into The Christmas Spirit

TF2 Gets Into The Christmas Spirit

None

If there is one game studio that knows how to share in the holiday festivities, it’s Valve. Valve has created updates for their hit FPS Team Fortress 2 for just about every important holiday on the calendar, and Christmas is no exception. This year, they’re bringing their second annual Australian Christmas update, and it’s just as crazy as the last one. Perhaps even more so. What sort of weapons did we get for Christmas this year?

The Engineer gets the Braniac Pack, which is filled with weapons fitting for a mad scientist. The Pomson 6000 shotgun does not require ammo, penetrates enemy targets, cannot be deflected, and causes spies and medics to lose their cloak and medigun charge when hit. The Eureka Effect is a wrench for people who don’t like moving their sentries after they are built. Though it disables building carrying, it allows you to instantly teleport to spawn via alt-fire. It’s perfect if you have a teleporter setup there and you want to keep your metal supply full.

The Pyro gets the Moonman pack, which is filled with fire. The Third Degree Fire Axe causes damage to one character to be spread apart to all characters attached by Medic Beams. The Phlogistinator raises an “Mmmph” meter when you light the enemy on fire. When it is full, you activate your MMPH by alt-firing to refill your health and activate auto-crits for a short while. Finally, the Manmelter 2600 ZX does not require ammo and puts out fires on your teammates. For each fire you extinguish you get one guaranteed critical hit with the gun.

The final Australian Christmas present this year is a new control point map: Foundry, with twelve map-specific achievements. If you unlock seven of the twelve, you’ll get a steampunk top hat for Christmas. Brilliant!
