TGS 2009: Sony PS3 Sales up Nearly 300% After Price Drop; Shortages Imminent?

None

Unsurprisingly, sales of the PS3 have exploded since the $100 price drop of the console back in August.

Reuters quoted Jack Tretton, CEO of SCEA, as saying, “We are up about 300 percent over where we were pre-price drop.” Tretton continued, “We are up significantly versus last year. If things continue at this pace, it is conceivable that there will be product shortages,” Tretton said.

According to the Reuters’ interview, Sony’s on track to meet goal of 13 million units sold in the fiscal year.
