Alan Wake Goes Stand-Alone

Alan Wake Goes Stand-Alone

None

Earlier this month, reports came in that we would soon be getting an Alan Wake sequel. This cinematic horror game was extremely well-received, and it had remarkable staying power, generating two DLC packs already.

Then we heard that the next Alan Wake sequel wouldn’t be a sequel at all, so everyone thought that we were just going to see another DLC chapter. Then, Remedy games, the guys behind Alan Wake, said that we’re not going to see another Alan Wake DLC pack. So what the heck is going on?

Well, XBLA fans recently cited “an extremely trusted source” (though still anonymous, mind you), saying that the next Alan Wake chapter will be a standalone XBLA downloadable release. Rumor has it that Alan Wake: Night Springs will pick up where the last DLC pack left off, but will be more episodic in nature. The standalone game shares a title with the Twilight Zone ripoff TV show that we saw inside the original Alan Wake, which we doubt is a coincidence.

Microsoft has not yet commented on these rumors, nor has Remedy for that matter. However, if the next Alan Wake isn’t Alan Wake 2 or DLC, then what could it be other than a standalone XBLA title?
