Fan Made TimeSplitters Game Announced

Fan Made TimeSplitters Game Announced

TimeSplitters is coming back in a weird way. Crytek has authorized a group fans and original members of the TimeSplitters team at Free Radical Design to create a brand new TimeSplitters game using CryEngine 3. The game is called TimeSplitters: Rewind, and a demo is due out sometime this December.

Details about the game are still a bit nebulous, however Michael Hubicka, the team’s project manager, did let a couple slip. Thee game will feature online multiplayer for 8-16 players. If you don’t have enough friends to fill those slots, bots will. TimeSplitters Rewind will come with bots with fully implemented A.I. Unfortunately, split-screen play will not be possible. CryEngine 3 just isn’t designed for it. On the upside, Duckman Drake is back!

Crytek boss Cevat Yeril himself said that he would love to see another TimeSplitters made, but there wasn’t enough fan interest to warrant one being bade my Crytek itself. He then said that fans could feel free to work on a new TimeSplitters game without fear of getting sued, which was all that Rewind team needed to get started.
