Gang Beasts is a 2017 party game developed by Boneloaf. While the game was initially published by Double Fine Presents for the first three years of its lifespan, it has since been self-published by Boneloaf. Originally released on PC and PlayStation 4, Gang Beasts eventually came to both Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, too.
Its goofy gameplay didn’t quite fully win over critics. The game currently stands at a 68 on Metacritic, which indicates average reviews overall. Still, given its overall recognition within the gaming community, it’s hard to imagine that Boneloaf sees Gang Beasts as anything other than an enormous success.
Gang Beasts Premise
Gang Beasts is all about chaotic fun. You control a gelatinous ‘beast,’ fighting across different environments in physics-based combat. The combat itself is fairly basic. You can punch enemies, grab them, throw them, and even headbutt them! The aim of the game is to eliminate all of the other beasts by throwing them off the map.
These maps themselves are totally interactive, affected by the attacks that all of the beasts are throwing. For example, one level takes place in an outdoor elevator. You have to smash the glass first, in order to be able to launch the other beasts out of the map. The impressive ragdoll physics just adds to the goofiness of the whole affair.
You can technically play against bots, but really, it’s designed to be played with friends. There’s nothing like making a peace pact with a friend, before turning on them in the heat of battle. Gang Beasts just feels like the perfect party game, with fun and laughs guaranteed.
Gang Beasts Main Characters
We’ve already established that Gang Beasts is unashamedly a multiplayer party game. There’s no deep story to get lost in – only goofy fun. Because of this, there’s no main character in Gang Beasts. There are only little gelatinous guys, who you can customize in various ways to make your own. You’ll notice a stylistic similarity between this and Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout. Remember – Gang Beasts did it first.
There’s no gameplay benefit to customizing your main character in Gang Beasts. It’s all designed for you to have the most fun possible, allowing you to play however you want.
Gang Beasts Titles in the Series
As of 2023, Gang Beasts stands alone as the only title in the series. It is Boneloaf’s most successful game to date, so it’s somewhat of a surprise that the studio has yet to capitalize with a sequel, especially given the original game’s middling reviews.
However, Boneloaf does continue to update the game, even six years after its initial release. The studio’s commitment to its product is commendable, when others would have moved on long ago. It’s part of the reason that Gang Beasts remains so playable to this day – there’s a ton of content, and always more around the corner.

Gang Beasts Cheat Codes
Unfortunately, you’re not going to find any Gang Beasts cheat codes, as they don’t exist at the moment. It’s a multiplayer game, so it makes sense to keep cheats away to maintain a level playing field. However, the game does contain a number of commands you can use by pressing the respective number from 1 to 0 on your keyboard. These do a variety of fun things, mostly spawning items and characters.
Sadly, these cheats can only be used in local play. Multiplayer could potentially become chaos if players were able to use them online, so again, it makes sense.
- 1: Automatically pulls you closer to metal objects, like a magnet.
- 2: Makes you float in the air.
- 3: Spawns a small orange ball into the map. This can be used multiple times.
- 4: Spawns a large orange ball into the map. This can be used multiple times.
- 5: Spawns a cardboard box into the map. This can be used multiple times.

Gang Beasts Cheat Code FAQs
How Do You Fly in Gang Beasts?
By using the number 2 on your keyboard, you can begin to float in the air. From here, you can actually move in the air, making it harder for other opponents to grab you. This is the closest you can get to flying in Gang Beasts, although as we mentioned, you can only do this offline.
How Do You Use Commands in Gang Beasts?
All you have to do is press the button on your keyboard! This isn’t like other games, where you have to enable a developer console or enter another code before you can use commands. In Gang Beasts, all you have to do is push the button.
