LulzSec Gives Up The Ghost

LulzSec Gives Up The Ghost

None

Over the weekend, LulzSec—the hacking group responsible for the BioWare, Nintendo, EVE Online, Minecraft, and SEGA intrusions—made a statement that they were giving up hacking. According to them, they had only ever intended to terrorize the virtual world for 50 days. Now that their allotted time was up, they were going to disband and hack no more.

There could, however, be more to this story. Last week, the supposed “leader” of LulzSec was taken into federal custody on suspicion of hacking, and another hacker by the name of “The Jester” hacked LulzSec’s personal page. This hacker claimed to know who each and every member of the group was and threatened to out them all to the authorities. So perhaps their cessation of hostilities against the virtual world wasn’t as pure as they would like everyone to believe.
