Modern Warfare 3 Gets LAN Support

Modern Warfare 3 Gets LAN Support

None

It’s no secret that the FPS community has largely moved to consoles. The genre was once the playground of hardcore PC gamers, flaunting around their keyboard and mouse skills, but now the age of Call of Duty and Halo has moved the genre toward dual-stick control scheme. With consoles being the preferred method to shoot your friends in the face, the old school LAN parties of yore have given way to online play. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it does make Activision’s choice to include LAN support in Modern Warfare 3 a rather welcome surprise.

Many modern day PC games go completely without LAN support, and for good reason. I mean, at this point, you can bring your PCs together and just connect wirelessly to the same hub, and it’s basically doing the same thing if your connection is fast enough. Still, purists prefer the smooth feel of a LAN party to the Internet any day, and Activision has these purists in mind.

For right now, LAN support seems to be a feature of the PC version only. However, it would be pretty awesome if consoles could go LAN as well. We will give you more updates on Modern Warfare 3 as they become available. Stay tuned to see if you’ll be running the hottest new Call of Duty LAN party on the block.
