New 360 Minecraft Details Emerge

None

Designer Markus “Notch” Persson is usually very open when it comes to his sandbox crafting game Minecraft. But because the recently announced Xbox 360 version will have actual marketing behind it as opposed to word of mouth that spread word of it originally, he’s a bit less open regarding its features and functionality.

In a recent interview, Notch discussed some changes and additions that will be seen in the 360 version of the game, including a new crafting system and Kinect functionality. Apparently, there will be a mode where you “wave your arms around to mine and use items” that will add a little random silliness to the game.

Notch wouldn’t say anything about whether or not Minecraft will make its way to the PS3 or Wii consoles. Since the game is also coming to the Xperia Play and potentially other mobile platforms soon after, he obviously wants his game available to as many gamers as possible. This means Wii/PS3 versions are likely to show up eventually. The Xperia version will cost $7 when it releases sometime this fall, and according to Notch, it’s been designed to be easily portable to other mobile platforms.
