Pokémon Type Calculator Explained: How to Figure Out Any Pokémon’s Stats

With all of the types of Pokemon available today, it can be challenging to remember their strengths and weaknesses. Luckily, an easy-to-use calculator will quickly answer your questions while in battle. Whether it’s on offense or defense, you can figure out which Pokemon needs to be sent out in order to K.O. your opponent’s Pokemon without issue. Today, we will explain and break down how to use the Pokemon Type Calculator with the click of a few buttons.

Note: Charizard will be used in each example for the sake of convenience and consistency. Charizard is a Fire/Flying-Type Pokemon. Simply enter the type you are looking for in each example.

The Offensive calculator will show players how much damage they will deal to opposing Pokemon.

  • Enter the type your Pokemon is in the left-hand column.
  • Below is the “Pokedex Coverage” tab. This quickly summarizes the percentage of damage this type will deal to Pokemon in the Pokedex. Charizard is weak against 33.3% of the Pokedex but deals normal damage to 60.4%. Only 6.3% of Pokemon are resistant to Charizard attacks.
  • On the right-hand column, players can see a breakdown of each type and the damage dealt. Charizard will deal 2x damage to an Ice-Type Pokemon like Glaceon but half damage to Rock-Type Pokemon.
