Pokken Tournament Gets an Official Release Date

If you asked a high Pokemon fan exactly what kind of game he or she would like to play, they might describe something like Pokken Tournament. “I don’t know dude, like, what if we had a high-definition, one-on-one fighting game? Get the dudes from Tekken to come in and work on the fighting mechanics and moves lists so we could pull off some sick combos. Throw in mega evolution and assist Pokemon; that’d be dank.” Dank indeed.

Pokken Tournament has shaped up really nicely, and the Wii U version looks every bit as good, if not better, than the arcade version that did well in Japan. We’ve been waiting for an official release date for a long time, and for a while now Amazon has had the placeholder date of December 31, 2016. Today The Pokemon Company officially announced a release date of March 18, which is a mere two months away. If you haven’t seen much gameplay, check out some tournament footage below:
