TGS 2011: The Vita Finally Gets A Release Date

None

We finally know when the PS Vita will release in the Land of the Rising Sun.

At Sony’s Tokyo Game Show press conference—which, by the way, was absolutely saturated with new PS Vita info—they revealed that the handheld will be coming sooner than we may have thought. Specifically, Japanese gamers will be able to get their hands on the PS Vita on December 17. The handheld will cost 29.980 yen ($390 U.S.) for the 3G model, and 24,980 yen ($325 U.S.) for the Wi-Fi-only model. 3G data plans will cost 980 yen ($13 U.S.) for twenty hours. Gamers will also be able to purchase a 100 hour plan for 4,980 yen ($65U.S.)

The system will be available for pre-order in Japan starting October 15. Hopefully it will be announced for U.S. release shortly thereafter. Cross your fingers and hope that North American gamers will also get it before Christmas.
