Activision Thinks Leaks are “Cool”

None

We all know Stetsons, fezzes, and penguins are cool, but what would you say if I told you that leaks were also cool? You might think I was a little bit crazy, but according to Activision, that’s just what they are. Last Friday, the build-up to a surprise Modern Warfare 3 reveal was ruined by a fairly extensive leak that detailed everything from set pieces to plot points and basically ruined what was to be one of the biggest reveals at E3. But is Activision mad? Nah.

“Friday was a really interesting, a really kind of cool day,” Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg said of the leak. “No one wakes up and thinks, ‘I hope there’s been a leak and our timing gets all messed up.'” Hirshberg went on to say that their ultimate goal after hearing about the leak was to end the day with a “marketing win,” and he feels that they accomplished their goal on Friday. It’s nice to see that he’s taking it all in stride.
