Eskil Steenberg, creator of indie MMO Love, has been asked to “help out” with the Minecraft project. Minecraft creator Markus Persson, or “Notch,” has asked Steenberg to help him improve the graphics of his wildly popular open world survival game. Love was released before the Minecraft craze, but hasn’t had the insane sales figures Minecraft has. Steenberg isn’t jealous, though. When asked about Notch, he had this to say, “I’m really happy for his success. He’s handled it really well: he’s still making the game, and that proves what it should be about.”  Minecraft’s blocky look and low-bit textures have been a feature fans have had to grow to love. It will be interesting to see which direction Steenberg will take it. |
