Overwatch Will Be Free to Play on Console Next Weekend

Are you one of the five people who hasn’t tried Overwatch yet? I am too, don’t tell. We’ll both get the chance to rectify that gaming sin from September 9-12, when Overwatch will be free to play on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Pop on over to the official Overwatch site for instructions on how to access the free trial on your console of choice. It appears that you can access the trial regardless of your PlayStation Plus membership, but that Xbox Live Gold is required for the Xbox One weekend. Aww, Microsoft, why you gotta be a party pooper?

This is a pretty comprehensive free weekend, too.  All 22 heroes and 13 maps are available to play in modes such as Quick Play, Custom Brawl, and Weekly Brawl. You’ll earn loot boxes just like everybody else, and you get to keep what you earned (and any progress you made) if you decide to take the plunge and buy the full game. Sounds like a great opportunity to see what all the fuss is about!
