SEGA’s New UK Studio?

SEGA’s New UK Studio?

None

The term “next-gen” in reference to anything other than the current crop of consoles still has a strange feel to it. However, with the Wii U and PlayStation Vita on the way, SEGA is taking its first steps toward development on these truly next-generation devices by opening a new UK studio.

Though SEGA has yet to canonize the studio’s name or release any details on the first title under its awning—beyond that it is a “unique action-adventure experience” for the Vita—it promises that the title will be ready for release sometime in 2012. We can be sure that more details on the project will come to light within the next six months or so.

This is a particularly striking reversal from SEGA’s situation last year, in which they underwent a massive reorganization that included the layoffs of 73 employees. The contrast speaks of positive sales and optimistic projections. One can only hope that SEGA’s new UK studio lives up to its promising beginnings.
