Sony And Gorge Hotz Settle Out Of Court

None

So after threats, invasions of privacy, and a third-party “hacktivist” group getting involved, it looks like the saga of GeoHot vs. Sony is over as both parties have settled out of court. The terms of the settlement are undisclosed (as it customary in these types of high-profile cases), but I wouldn’t be surprised if Hotz had to jump through some hoops to avoid some litigation. Or perhaps Sony made a job offer? Wouldn’t be the first time a hacker was brought on board to increase security.

SCEA general counsel Riley Russell made a statement this morning about the case, saying, “We appreciate Mr. Hotz’s willingness to address the legal issues involved in this case and work with us to quickly bring this matter to an early resolution.” Hotz also made a statement on his blog, and said that he is “joining the Sony boycott,” and “will never purchase another Sony product.” Make of that what you will.
