In what is surely an unprecedented move, Sony has been granted access to George Hotz’s PayPal account, and will be looking at the accounts of all who donated to his cause. Though I doubt Sony will pursue any legal action against those names that are found in his account, Sony will be trying to bolster its case against Hotz using the information in the account (as well as obtain permission to conduct the trial in San Francisco instead of Hotz’s home state of New Jersey).  This news is certainly interesting, as Sony has previously gathered Hotz’s Twitter updates and hard drive information in an effort to prove Hotz’s malicious intent. Of course, nothing has officially been said about this information-gathering, but it looks like the writing is on the wall. |
