Sony Goes Before Congress

Sony Goes Before Congress

None

Despite PSN being back up and every PSN user being outfitted with free ID theft insurance for a year, the US Congress still wants to hear from Sony about what exactly went on when the PlayStation Network went down. Although Sony boss Kaz Hirai isn’t going to be making an appearance, it has been confirmed that several “high level” Sony executives will be testifying, and Hirai has prepared an extensive statement to be read before Congress.

Although it doesn’t seem likely that any action will be taken against Sony, certain members of Congress may be looking at this incident to help launch legislation that would better protect consumers from data theft when breaches like this occur.

The hearings are set to be held sometime in early June, and they will be public. Although you could probably catch some of them on C-SPAN, you’ll probably be too busy checking out our extensive E3 coverage instead.
