Spanish Police Arrest Three Suspected In PSN Hack

None

In a press release on Friday, the Spanish police announced that they had apprehended three suspected members of Anonymous who may have been directly involved in the April intrusion into Sony’s PSN database.

In particular, a server found in one suspect’s apartment appeared to have been used not only in the PSN intrusion, but also various other attacks on banks, government websites and Italian energy company Enel.

All three were released without bail and charges have not yet been filed, though it is expected that they will be charged with “forming an illegal association to attack public and corporate web sites,” a conviction of which would garner each of them a three year jail sentence.

It is important to note that Anonymous claims innocence with regard to the PSN hack, but, as members are capable of acting without the consent or support of the group, that alone does not clear these men of suspicion.
